Ramy Bassily

Ramy Bassily is a partner at Lead up in Paris and a recognised practitioner in international commercial arbitration and investor-State dispute settlement. Based in Paris, he acts across European and MENA-seated arbitrations, as both counsel and arbitrator, representing multinational corporations, financial institutions, States and state-owned entities in complex cross-border disputes.

His practice covers the principal MENA institutions, including the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Centre (ArbitrateAD), the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR), the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) and the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA), alongside the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, AAA, SCC, the Swiss Arbitration Centre and the VIAC, and ad hoc proceedings under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. He has acted in disputes governed by French and English law as well as Emirati, Saudi, Qatari, Kuwaiti, Jordanian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Egyptian, Libyan and Sudanese law, and handles matters engaging Sharia principles.

He is regularly appointed as arbitrator, sitting as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and tribunal chair across commercial, construction, services, sale and purchase, real estate and investment management disputes.

Over a career spanning more than fifteen years, Ramy gained experience in major law firms in Egypt and France, including Ackad Law Office, Kosheri, Rashed & Riad, Bredin Prat, Teynier Pic and White & Case, as well as in independent practice, before joining Lead up as partner. He is recognised in the Lexology Index 2026 for arbitration, published in partnership with Global Arbitration Review, and has been admitted to the Egyptian Bar Association since 2009. He works in English, French and Arabic.

Ramy is Co-Leader of ArabArb’s Cairo Hub and serves as Vice-President of the Club de l’Arbitrage.
